Below are the instructions necessary for updating a variety of common email clients. These instructions will assist you in making the changes necessary to access the new email system once migration occurs. It is recommended to complete these changes no later than October 4, 2010.
Follow these steps to determine which version of Outlook you are using:
- Open your Outlook Program
- Click the "Help" Menu at the top right hand side of the Outlook program
- Click the "About Microsoft Outlook XXXX" link at the bottom of the list
- A window will open telling you which version of Outlook you are using. You will likely see one of these versions
Follow the instructions below to update your version of Outlook
Outlook 2002 and 2003
- On the Tools menu click Email Accounts
- Choose "View or change Existing e-mail accounts" and then click Next
- Ensure your Schoollink account is highlighted and click the change button
- Under Logon Information update the User Name field to include your full email address. For example, if the user name is currently filled with john, you will want to update it to show

- Under Server Information update the Incoming mail server (POP3) from mail.schoollink.net to pop.schoollink.net
- Under Server Information update the Outgoing mail server (SMTP) from mail.schoollink.net to smtp.schoollink.net
- Click on the More Settings button and choose the Outgoing Server tab
- Check the box labeled "My Outgoing Server Requires Authentication"
- Ensure the first radio button is checked which will use the same settings as your incoming mail server. This should already be checked by default.
- Click the OK button
- Click the Next button
- Click the Finish button
You have successfully updated Outlook 2002/2003 in preparation of the upcoming mail server migration.
Outlook Express
- On the Tools menu click Accounts
- Ensure your Schoollink account is highlighted and click the Properties button.
- Select the Server tab
- Update the Incoming mail (POP3) from mail.schoollink.net to pop.schoollink.net
- Update the Outgoing mail server (SMTP) from mail.schoollink.net to smtp.schoollink.net
- Under the Incoming Mail Server Section, update the Account Name field to include your full email address.
For example, if the username is currently filled with john, you will

- At the bottom of the window check the box labeled "My server requires authentication"
- Click the Apply button and then the OK button
You have successfully updated Outlook Express in preparation of the upcoming mail server migration.
Outlook 2007
- On the Tools menu click Accounts Settings
- Click on the Email tab
- Ensure your Schoollink account is highlighted and click the change button.
